Who is this course for?

Employees, collaborators and consultants of organisations manufacturing pressure vessels according to Section VIII Division 1 of the ASME Code. Personnel engaged in inspection or quality control of pressure vessels. All interested persons who wish to become familiar with this standard.

  • Section VIII Div.1 scope, structure and edition 2023 updates
  • Material selection per Section II Part D and allowable stress
  • Design rules — internal & external pressure, shells, heads, nozzles
  • Openings and reinforcement
  • Fabrication, tolerances and forming
  • Welding requirements and PWHT
  • NDE methods and acceptance criteria
  • Hydrostatic and pneumatic testing
  • Code stamping (U, UM) and MDR compilation
  • Case studies and workshop

Requirements to access the course

There are no specific entry requirements; however basic experience in pressure vessel design, manufacturing or inspection is recommended to maximise effectiveness.

Delivery method

In-person course — at a date and location agreed with you, or at a venue indicated by us in accordance with the C&P calendar. Course materials include the delegate handout (PDF). Selected introductory presentations can also be delivered by distance learning.

Certificate

All attendees receive a course attendance certificate. Auditor-grade courses include a final examination — successful candidates receive a qualified-pass certificate aligned with the audit qualification requirements of ISO 19011.
