Material Inspections & Certification — EN 10204 Type 3.2
Independent material verification with 3.2 inspection certificates.
We provide inspection and certification of metallic materials to forges, foundries and rolling mills — ensuring compliance with required standards including PED Directive Annex I point 4.3. Certification of materials according to EN 10204 Type 3.2 is a standardised process that provides detailed information about the conformity of materials used in a given product or project.
Why 3.2 (not 3.1)?
Type 3.2 requires more thorough control than Type 3.1. It is necessary when it must be demonstrated that the materials supplied strictly meet all the requirements specified in the technical specification or contract. Pressure equipment built to PED Cat. III/IV frequently requires 3.2 documentation for safety-critical components.
Traceability
Each batch of material must be unambiguously traced from the manufacturer to the finished product, to ensure specified materials undergo the required quality checks. We witness this traceability all the way from sampling through to certification.
Independent audit & countersignature
Type 3.2 certification requires independent control and verification by a certification body or authorized representative. The certification must be signed by an authorized representative of the manufacturer and the independent certification body representative. Comprehensive documentation must include test results, manufacturing procedures, inspection reports and relevant information demonstrating material compliance.
How to apply
Manufacturers submit form AM042N specifying material type, manufacturing standards (ASME II, ASTM, EN, API, DIN), customer specs, manufacturing location and testing laboratories. We provide the administrative documentation, an assigned inspector and the final certificate.
