Who is this course for?
Employees, collaborators and consultants of organisations that manufacture boilers and pressure equipment using welding and brazing technologies. Personnel engaged in inspection or quality control of boilers and pressure vessels. All interested persons who wish to become familiar with this standard.
Learning objectives — by the end of this course you will be able to:
- Identify the responsibilities incumbent on a pressure equipment manufacturer with reference to the qualification of welding procedures and personnel
- Identify the main welding parameters to be taken into account for qualification of welding procedures and personnel, their classification (essential, non-essential variables etc.)
- Review a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
- Review a Welding Procedure / Process Qualification Record (PQR)
- Review a Welder Qualification Record (WQR)
- Write a WPS according to Section IX of the ASME Code
- Identify key requirements governing the qualification of brazing procedures and personnel

Requirements to access the course
There are no specific entry requirements; basic experience in pressure equipment design, manufacturing, inspection or testing is recommended to maximise effectiveness.
Delivery method
In-person course — at a date and location agreed with you, or at a venue indicated by us in accordance with the C&P calendar. Course materials include the delegate handout (PDF). Selected introductory presentations can also be delivered by distance learning.
Certificate
All attendees receive a course attendance certificate. Auditor-grade courses include a final examination — successful candidates receive a qualified-pass certificate aligned with the audit qualification requirements of ISO 19011.
